Resources for the Restructure to Middle Assemblies

The 2025 General Synod of the Reformed Church in America approved the final steps to merge classes and regional synods into middle assemblies. Implementation of the middle assemblies will take place effective December 31, 2026. Alongside this work, the Regional Synod of Albany has approved the creation of two middle assemblies and has formed two transition teams to form these middle assemblies. These middle assemblies are known as the Abiding Middle Assembly and the Northeastern Middle Assembly (NEMA). The creation of the Abiding Middle Assembly comes in response to a request from Montgomery Classis to create an alternate assembly to the originally proposed Upstate New York Middle Assembly. The Northeastern Middle Assembly is based on the proposal of the Upstate New York Middle Assembly. Transition teams for both of these proposed assemblies are working to define and shape the values, mission, and structure of these bodies.
